"Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love ...they depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog; it merely expands the heart. If you have loved many dogs, your heart is very big."

The Rainbow bridge:

epresents the heart-felt belief that when our beloved canine friends (or any animal friend) are taken from us, they go to a place where they can run and play without pain or suffering, where they become whole again and everyday is filled with love and friendship. To get to this wonderful place, they must first cross over the "Rainbow Bridge". It is here where they will be greeted and led across. Once across the bridge, the only thing that will complete their joy is when they are united with their loving human companions.

This is my interpretation of the Rainbow Bridge that I painted in oil and is dedicated to my wonderful friend Boris II who I lost in 1996. Also, I added a painting of Boris II that I did in 1999.

NNatasha and Boris under the Peonies

Here is a painting I did with Peonies from my yard. I put the ashes from Natasha and Boris next to the vase.

Nellie on her journey

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone--wherever it goes--for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.
